Macrobiotics
Everyone has a dream. Macrobiotics can help you make yours a reality.
It is an approach to life that can help you find the strength to face
and solve the challenges you will meet, deepen your understanding and
make room for your spirit to grow.
The Greek philosopher Hippocrates said: "Let food be thy medicine
and medicine be thy food”.
Hippocrates is considered the father of modern medicine. He lived two-and-a-half
thousand years ago and was the first to use the term ‘Macros Bios’
to mean great or long life.
In the twentieth century, George Ohsawa reintroduced the world to macrobiotics.
With the help of his teacher, Sagen Ishizuka, Ohsawa healed himself from
tuberculosis using macrobiotic
food as medicine.
Grateful for his renewed health, he dedicated his life to the study and
teaching of macrobiotics. Together with his wife Lima he has traveled
the world helping many people to cure their diseases and find a new direction
in their lives.
His books include:
The art of peace
Zen macrobiotics
You are all sanpaku
-
The book of judgment
Cancer and the philosophy of the Far East
Michio Kushi, a student of George Ohsawa’s, introduced modern
macrobiotics to the United States in the early 50’s. He has lectured
at conferences and seminars all over the world, including Holland. Together
with his wife Aveline, he founded the Kushi
Institute in Becket and he is also the founder and president
of the East West Foundation, the Kushi Foundation and One Peaceful World.
He has published over 40 books, including:
-
One peaceful world
-

Adelbert and Wieke Nelissen are students of Michio Kushi: as the founders
and directors of the Kushi
Institute of Europe, they are pioneers in the natural food
business. They have invited Michio Kushi to lecture in Holland on numerous
occasions and they host an annual Macrobiotic
Summer Conference which is well worth a visit if you are in
Holland in summertime. Their Art
of Life School offers intensive macrobiotic training and their
long running Women's
Health Program has introduced many women to the benefits of
a macrobiotic lifestyle. Wieke’s first cookbook is entitled:
International Macrobiotic Summer Cookbook.
